One of the nice things about Acacia is that it is so convenient, just a couple of minutes off of Route 121 behind Domaine Carneros. It sits in the rolling hills of Los Carneros, which is the only area of Napa where the vines run over the hills like a carpet. Being just north of the Bay this area is always cooler than the northern valley, so in the midst of the hot summer this is a great place to taste.
They are by appointment, but the staff is very relaxed, and the tasting room is spacious, so as you are driving there, call them on the phone and make an instant appointment. If you forget to, go inside and see if they are busy. This side of Carneros is rarely busy.
There are nice tables outside, although they are not permitted for picnics. This is a large winery so it is hard to miss, and the tasting room is tucked up against the equipment, so you can smell the wine process through the doorways. They have wide distribution and make the crisp clean flavors that Carneros wines are known for, sourcing their grapes from within sight of the winery.
